SINAMICS G120E is a range of configurable enclosed variable speed drives for a broad spectrum of industrial applications, based on SINAMICS G120 modular drive components. The drives are air-cooled and available in NEMA 1 or NEMA 12 (ventilated) enclosures.

All models utilize a motor side IGBT inverter with PWM technology. SINAMICS G120E is offered with three variants on the line side

  • Standard 6-pulse

  • Clean Power 18-pulse non-regenerative diode front end

  • Efficient Infeed with Innovative IGBT based technology for power regeneration to the supply system

Control Units

A broad range of control units is available to provide the specific functionality best suited to the application. The choice of control unit determines:

  • Regulator control modes including Volts/Hz, sensorless vector and optionally closed loop vector with speed feedback encoder, as well as Easy Positioning (EPos) with position encoder

  • Quantity and type of digital and analog inputs and outputs

  • Bus communication protocol – choices include Modbus RTU, BacNet MS/TP, USS, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, as well as EtherNet/IP

  • PID controller, Free Function Blocks for logic and arithmetic functions

  • Application-specific functionality including for example hibernation mode for energy savings, load monitoring (for belts or dry pump), motor staging, multi-zone control and others

Efficient Infeed with power module PM250

  • The line side Efficient Infeed provides the ability to feed energy back into the supply system to break the load without wasting energy in a braking resistor. This saves space, eliminates wiring and reduces heat losses.

  • Efficient Infeed technology uses an IGBT converter that provides reduced line harmonics, without needing a line reactor, for even more space savings and lower heat losses.
