What is a Steam Distributioin System?

The purpose of a steam distribution system is to connect the output of the steam generation system (i.e. boilers) to the steam end use applications.

The main components of a steam distribution include:

  • Steam distribution piping

  • Valves

  • Insulation

  • Steam traps

  • Air vents

  • Drip legs

  • Strainers

Measurement devices for Industrial Steam Distribution System

Measurement points for steam distribution include monitoring steam conditions such as temperature, pressure, mass flow, valve position and BTU content. Once the steam has been used, the resulting condensate must also be accounted for and its volume, flow and temperature measured.
