Based on lithographic print-making principles, offset printing is an indirect print technology where the print color is first transferred from a mostly thin, flexible aluminum plate to a blanket cylinder and then to the material being printed.

Offset printing is divided into two main groups: when pre-cut sheets of paper or card are fed individually into the press, it’s referred to as sheet-fed offset printing. When the paper is fed from rolls, which may weigh to several tons, then cut into sheets, this is called web offset printing, which is further subdivided into illustration and newspaper printing.

Single-drive technology has established itself in web offset printing. This means that each printing unit has its own servomotor. The axes are synchronized by a virtual leading axis. However, a main drive with a drive wheel train is still used for sheet-fed offset printing because of the risk of collision.

Sheet-Fed Offset

Sheet fed offset printing machines are presses for multi-color printing to achieve extremely high-quality results. They work according to the offset printing principle, which as a planographic printing system, is based on the physical repulsion of water and printing ink.
Sheet fed offset printing machines are used to produce magazines, calendars, high-quality advertising, packaging material and various other products in small to medium-sized editions.
