What is a CHP/Distributed Energy System?

Combined Heat & Power (CHP) and/or Distributed Energy Systems produce steam, hot water and chilled water at central plants and distribute it to multiple buildings they service. These systems increase efficiency and minimize environmental impact as the buildings they serve do not require their own furnaces, boilers or air conditioners.

CHP systems provide heating, cooling and sometimes power to entire cities, large college campuses and housing developments.  CHP and Distributed Energy Systems are similar to industrial boilers and chiller systems, but are typically much larger in scope.

Measurement devices for CHP/Distributed Energy Systems

Accurate measurement of numerous data points is required to operate these large scale systems including liquid & solids flow, temperature, pressure, valve position, liquid level, BTU’s and many others.
